braid is a playlist of links. Videos play through each platform's own player, and braid doesn't download or host them. People can attach a backup link to a save, pointing at a copy kept somewhere else, which braid plays when the original is gone. This page is for when a link infringes your rights.

sending a notice

Email admin@braid.video with the subject "copyright notice" and include:

  • The work you hold the rights to, and your relationship to it.
  • The video on braid: the link it was saved from, and if you have it, the shared playlist it appears in.
  • Your name, address and an email or phone number we can reach you on.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the rights holder, their agent or the law, and that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you're the rights holder or allowed to act for them.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

what happens next

We act on complete notices promptly: the video is blocked from carrying backup links on braid, any backup links already on it are removed, and the people who added them are told. Accounts that repeatedly link to material they don't have the rights to are closed. Links to the original video on its own platform, and the copies a backup link points at, aren't ours to remove; please contact the host about those.

if your backup link was removed

If you believe a notice was mistaken or that you have the right to keep the copy, reply to the email you received with the details. A counter-notice should identify the removed link, say under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, give your contact details, and consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where you live. We'll pass it on to whoever sent the notice and, if they don't take it to court within ten business days, lift the block.

This page describes how we handle notices; it isn't legal advice. Where a formal designated agent is required (for example under the US DMCA), the contact above is it.
